It was a long standing joke where I grew up that the tourists would ask "what elevation are we at?!" when standing on the docks, and we'd say, "oh, about TEN FEET." Also thought it meant something about walking off of a pier, over the water, ten feet, like a little miracle happening, but not a whole "I can walk on water" miracle, just a small, ten-feet miracle. I always thought the line was “ten feet off a pier.”
